Found something that gives you an advantage? Report it privately by email and do not use it. Reporting an exploit has never cost anyone their account here. Using one has.

III · Rules

The realm rules

Short, because a long list is a list nobody reads. Enforcement is by people, and people take context into account.

  1. One person, one account

    Share a house, share an IP, that is fine — tell us first and it stays fine. Running six accounts to farm yourself is not.

  2. No automation

    No bots, no macros that play for you, no third-party clients. A rebind is a rebind. A script that grinds while you sleep is not.

  3. Exploits get reported, not used

    If something is obviously not intended, it is not intended. Tell us and we will thank you in the patch log by name, if you want us to.

  4. Do not make it unpleasant for other people

    Harassment, slurs, spam, and following someone around to ruin their evening. PvP is not harassment. Camping a level 20 for an hour is.

  5. Nothing here is for sale

    Selling accounts, gold, or items for real money gets both sides removed. There is no economy here worth protecting from you — only from that.

  6. We will tell you what you did

    Every action comes with a reason and a way to appeal. Appeals go to email. We have reversed our own decisions before and will again.

Asked constantly

Is this actually free? What is the catch?
It is free. The catch is that it is run by three people in their evenings, so the realm goes down sometimes and support is a day, not an hour. The shop sells cosmetics and that money goes to the server bill, which it does not cover. Nobody here is making a living from this.
I forgot my account name
Email us from the address you signed up with and we will tell you what it is. If you cannot access that address either, we cannot help — there is no other proof we can check, and that is deliberate.
How do I reset my password?
Email staff@ancientofruins.com from your registered address. We send a one-time link that expires in an hour. We will never ask you for your password, in Discord or anywhere else.
Will you wipe the server?
Not planned. If it ever becomes unavoidable you get 30 days' notice on the patch log and in Discord, in writing, with the reason. No surprise wipes, no “fresh start” every six months to bring players back.
Can I play from Europe or America?
Yes. The realm is in Singapore. Levelling, questing, and flying are all fine at 250 ms. Air PvP is not, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. A second region is being priced.
Is my old Runes of Magic character transferable?
No. Different database, different content, different balance. Start fresh — at ×5 you will be at cap in about thirty hours.
Is the client safe? SmartScreen says otherwise
SmartScreen warns about any installer without download reputation, which we do not have. Do not take our word for it: check the SHA-256 on the download page against the file you got. That is a real check. A green button is not.
Can I run my own server from your code?
Ask. We are happy to talk about it and we are not precious about the flight work — most of it was worked out in public in Discord anyway. What we will not do is help anyone run a paid server.
